Launch lessons and the power of connection over perfection - Chanti Zak - Copywriter & Funnel Strategist

You learn by launching.

& no matter how many times I launch, I ALWAYS learn so much. I’m excited to hand you a hot cup of hindsight today, %FIRSTNAME%.

Pair that with a big ol’ platter of permission to spit in the face of perfectionism *HAWK TUAH*

SIDEBAR: If the “hawk tuah” girl can start a podcast and ponzi scheme her way to multi-millionaire status, you can do all the big things you’re dreaming up! OK? Ok.

I’m spilling *most* of the tea and launch lessons learned in today’s and next week’s Spill the Tea because it’s too much for one email.

(I’m reserving the full numbers breakdown for my Fertile Ground community which I warmly invite you to check out here.)

I have this peppermint essential oil spray on my desk called ‘Keep Going’ and damn if that wasn’t the mantra I needed for this last launch, along with this one:

Keep it simple, stupid

Back in the ’60s, Kelly Johnson, a no-nonsense aircraft engineer at Lockheed Skunk Works laid down a golden rule for his team: “Keep it simple, stupid.”

Why? Because if a fighter jet couldn’t be fixed by a mechanic with basic tools in the middle of a war zone, it wasn’t going to fly — literally.

Whether you’re building planes or launching digital offers, one truth remains: complexity is the enemy of execution.

Which brings me to a little behind-the-scenes tea from my recent Grow with Quizzes launch…

If I had to sum up my #1 lesson? I made it more complicated than it needed to be.

Too many moving parts. Too many ideas I tried to squeeze in. I knew better — and still found myself tangled in a few too many “what ifs” and “maybe I shoulds.”

If my pattern recognition skills are correct, launching in 2025 is not about perfection it’s about CONNECTION.

Here for it? Let’s go.

The tea: connection over perfection

After a launch, when the time comes to reflect and debrief, I always find myself faced with the same question of where do I even start?!

I feel humbled. Wide awake to the changes afoot in the online business world. Nostalgic for simpler times when Zoom wasn’t yet a noun.

With AI seeping into every crack and crevice of the content we consume and the courses we buy, it feels like showing up scrappy is ironically a way to communicate quality and value.

I got an email this week from a well-known coach who just shared she had a $3 million dollar MONTH and the formatting was all over the place. It was so messy.

My judgey self scoffed, but is she playing chess not checkers? Does email formatting and a flawless aesthetic reeeeeally make a difference these days?

*pry my email formatting preferences out of my cold dead hands*

Just today I bought Scott Olford’s FutureProof workshop and the sales page is just a basic Google doc.

More and more it seems like low-effort is on trend. Which makes total sense when you think about it.

With this last launch I had a grand vision of my new quiz feeding my new private podcast feeding my waitlist feeding my sales — but upon reflection, I’m not really sure any of it was 100% necessary 🤷‍♀️

Private podcast numbers were not where I wanted them so at the last minute I decided to create a new live class.

This was the right move!

Nothing can replace teaching and pitching live. I know it made a big difference.

I invest a lot into making things beautiful but I’m curious if SIMPLE is the way to stand out in today’s chaotic internet world.

Another “conversion mechanism” (for lack of a better word!) that worked a treat was just getting on quick calls with people who were on the fence.

Connection over perfection. These were easy no-pressure calls to run.

Next week I’ll share more about where customers came from, how much time it really takes to pull together a program launch, and more.

Sip on this…
