75 CREATE: 75 hard for business owners - Chanti Zak - Copywriter & Funnel Strategist

1st edition of Spill the Tea for 2025 let’s goooo 🥂

I hope you’re feeling positive and refreshed and that you got to hibernate a bit over the holidays.

I’m tiptoeing back into email and social media land after a 2-week break from scrolling that was pretty darn blissful.

(Aside from my car, dishwasher, and phone breaking at the same time 🙃)

I really needed that period of pause to create some perspective and a plan for how to move forward.

Like so many of the brilliant humans reading this newsletter (you included?) I struggle with the juggle of promoting my work and doing my work.

Particularly promoting and sharing on social, an experience I’ve come to see as a black mirror that can tell us a lot about ourselves if we let it.
But the benefits outweigh the downsides IF — and only if — I can maintain my boundaries, you feel me?

What you’ll learn in this article:

🍵💲Rules of “the game” — social boundaries for business baddies

🍵💲The most important habit online business owners need to succeed

🍵💲75 CREATE: join me for part 2 of the creation > consumption challenge 💪

This week’s tea: discipline equals freedom

I keep joking with my homies that I’m entering monk mode.

No more smoking the devil’s lettuce, consuming more than I create, or pouring more of my energy into client projects than I do my own work.

Serious goose mode, ACTIVATED. Though you will never catch me touching a goose #birdfearsforeveractivated.

So what does that look like?

It looks like holding some pretty badass priorities and prioritizing growth over comfort.

My social detox illuminated that I need some healthy structures in place, namely:

→ no scrolling in bed 😬 ‘nuff said.

→ post-work ritual that doesn’t involve my phone — where before I would trade a screen for a screen and plop the couch and scroll now I’m rolling out my yoga mat and doing some stretches and dancing for a bit instead and it’s soooo nice.

→ keeping my phone in another room entirely when I’m trying to focus (apparently having our phones near us is enough to cause “brain drain” and a few studies have shown that cognitive capacity increases 10-20% when it’s nowhere near us.)

→ not even checking my socials or email outside of work hours. If I want to scroll to decompress or get inspired, I’ll use a different non-business account to do so.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder — being constantly glued to our phones, and hence our businesses, makes the likelihood of burnout much stronger.

All of these guardrails are really about implementing the right systems before they’re totally necessary.

Let me ask you, %FIRSTNAME%…

If you had 10x the DMs, email replies, comments, traffic, followers, subscribers, and interest in your work — would you be able to hold that without it causing extra stress?

Most wouldn’t, me included.

Creating the necessary guardrails for growth before it happens makes it more likely to happen.

If on some level you don’t feel safe to up your content creation game or build your email list or whatever else is going to help you grow, your subconscious will continue to sabotage you.

My plan moving forward is to show up WAY more on social — but I refuse to equate that with sacrificing my sanity and peace.

Care to join me?!

Part 2 of the Creation > Consumption Challenge is to commit to a daily act of creation for 75 days.

Acts of creation = anything that creates connection or conversion in your business.

Social posts, emails, stories, videos, sales pages, quizzes, whatever you want!

(Psst… not sure how to create content or offers that your audience actually want? Run an annual audience survey and thank me later!)

I really believe that to be a successful online business owner the habit of creation > consumption is essential.

75 CREATE starts Jan. 8 (tomorrow!) and is totally free to join.

You’ll get access to a private community space to stay accountable and inspired alongside me and a bunch of other cool cats committed to creativity.
