%FIRSTNAME%, I’ve missed you.
2 weeks away in Greece and I feel like I’ve lived lifetimes away from my laptop.
It was a true vacation in the sense that I screamed at my kids too much and started vaping again to cope with the chaos (and fit in with the Greeks who all smoke).
I took a million pictures and got totally overwhelmed when it came to bringing back souvenirs (TOO MANY OPTIONS) and don’t even get me started on all the tourist hot spots I missed because #planningishard.
Typical type B in the house 🙋♀️
While I couldn’t bring you back any jars of olives, Nazar necklaces 🧿, or overpriced t-shirts, I do have some gifts to impart that only travel can truly give.
Not to frighten you if you’re in the midst or thinking about creating your own digital course, but all in, I spent over 200 hours working my last launch (including re-doing all the content which is admittedly hella time consuming).
Maybe you’ve heard the advice: ALWAYS BE LAUNCHING.
It’s pretty common in online business land. And it’s not “bad” advice. Because you learn by launching. And one launch can look *very* different from the next, and in my case, it needed to.
I can’t spend 200 hours on every launch. Hell to the no.
Before heading to Greece I spent a week repurposing last year’s launch of Easy Yes (doors are open btw!) and all in have spent closer to 40 hours on it.
The average person’s work week (not mine, hopefully not yours, lol).
How lovely to have a low-lift launch in a very busy and expensive season!
I hear from people all the time that they don’t want to reuse emails or social content from their last launch and I’m like “WHY?!”.
Can you even remember what you had for breakfast 2 days ago? No one remembers your email from 6 months ago.
Okay, now my top gifts from Greece:
On some level every time I travel I get a little delulu in thinking I’ll somehow be a different version of me and all my problems will disappear as soon as my feet hit the sand.
But if anything, travel magnifies neuroses.
I think it’s the same when you hit a big money goal in your business or go viral. You think it’ll somehow magically change everything and it just doesn’t work that way.
I’m reading Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Joe Dispenza and he gets into what actually leads to meaningful lasting change.
I read Wherever You Go, There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn years ago, the premise being, you can’t run away from yourself. So the path to peace is not escape — it’s presence.
There’s no greener grass but the sh*t you stand on and choose to water.
I live in a super rural area where everyone knows everyone. I just loved being surrounded by and talking to strangers everywhere we went.
It reminded me of what OG direct response marketer Gary Halbert preached, which was to become a student of markets.
“The very first thing you must come to realize is that you must become a ‘student of markets.’ Not products. Not techniques. Not copywriting… What you must learn is what people want to buy.”
Which you do through observation. People watching is a totally profitable past-time. Speaking of…
Clearly I’m new to the euro vacay vibe and so this whole thing of paying for a lounge chair was crazy to me.
The front row on the beach is the priciest and the further back you go the cheaper it gets.
People gladly pay for exclusivity, ease, and comfort.
🧿 Nobody cares (+ that’s a good thing)
Lately I’m just really feeling into how very little is actually a big deal and nobody cares all that much. No one is thinking about you as much as you think they are.
Most judgment of others is judgment of self in disguise and only those who are willing to be a little embarrassed in the name of growth are gonna make it in this world.
I did wear my oversized sleepy shirt and no make up to a concert on top of Mt. Lycabettus to really feel into this. And guess what, nobody cared 😉
I hope there was a gift or 2 for you in there.
& I hope you are well underway in your own process of building a business that gives you the freedom to scream at your kids in a different country if you so please.
Want a leg up?
Easy Yes might be for you if you’ve yet to create an offer that feels easy to sell and even easier for your dream people to buy.
Check it out here before the doors close later this week!
