2025 Wrapped: Reflections from a weird year - Chanti Zak - Copywriter & Funnel Strategist

Estimated read time: 6 mins

2025 was a weird year.

Weird in a very Tom Robbin’s novel kinda way. To quote his type of weird:

“The world is a wonderfully weird place, consensual reality is significantly flawed, no institution can be trusted, certainty is a mirage, security a delusion, and the tyranny of the dull mind forever threatens — but our lives are not as limited as we think they are, all things are possible, laughter is holier than piety, freedom is sweeter than fame, and in the end it’s love and love alone that really matters.”

Consensual reality and the norms of the online business space as we know it were rightly challenged.

We live in weird times, after all.

What used to work stopped working for many.

What “shouldn’t” work on paper started working.

Many of us, myself included, felt the weird and leaned in.

2025 required getting scrappy, honest, and real with myself in a deeper way than ever before.

Last January I couldn’t have imagined I’d be sitting at a marble kitchen table in Vietnam beside my fish pond.

My kids no longer in school but under our direction and all that comes with that.

Weird how much can happen when you give less f*cks about making it all happen.

Keep reading for the gold and the shit of my 2025, a debrief on the year if you will, and a glance at what’s next…

The tea:  2025 wrapped

Mixed bag of gummies this year was. When I initially sat down to reflect on all that’s happened it felt like uhhh, not much, sorry what year is it?

But in truth, there were a lot of wins, some Ls (Lessons), big changes in some ways but stagnation, too.

Some numbers to kick us off:

✔️ Worked 1203 hours — 23 hours/week on average

✔️ Recorded 93 looms

✔️ Read 25 books averaging 400 pages each

✔️ Wrote 32 issues of Spill the Tea

✔️ Launched 5 times

✔️ Created 3 new offers: EVOLVE, REALIGN, and KNOWN

✔️ Had my lowest revenue year in business in many years (though my fiscal year ends end of Feb. so it aint over til it’s over)

I cringe to share that last one. But if the past year has done anything it’s to strip away the hubris in my heart. If I am to be of service, I must be real.
I thought there would be more real costs to not pedestalizing, but funny enough it’s when I’ve been most open this year that I’ve seen the most success.

WINS:

Worked with sooo many amazing, intelligent, big hearted, crazy ambitious business owners and supported them at all stages. I really called in some cool ass clients this year.

  • Realized a looong held dream of actually using my location independence and getting out of Canada (esp. in the winter) and getting to show my kids the world!
  • Created new offers that feel super aligned with a direction that feels bigger and more exciting than it has in a long time.
  • Stopped smoking weed (no judgment 🌿this was just a long held coping mechanism that was no longer serving me).
  • Healing my relationship to coaching and getting real support in my business *sigh of relief*.
  • My business continues to be the source of freedom and possibility for the life we want to live. Being able to provide for my family through my efforts for nearly a decade (I’ve been at this for more than a decade but it took a few years initially to make any meaningful money) is huge, especially in a whack year.

CHALLENGES:

Pulling my kids out of school and homeschooling/world schooling them in lieu has been no small feat. I am very much still finding my footing here.

  • Multiple launches that didn’t go as planned, with similar or more effort than I’ve put in in the past.
  • Only being able to focus on one important thing at a time especially after going from having significant team support.
  • Spending a lot more time on social for little return and in turn, not growing my audience in the way that I know I need to.

GOALS FOR 2026:

1️⃣ Shift from maintenance mode into growth mode through prioritizing discovery OFF social:

  • Start Substack
  • Start YouTube → repurpose into podcast
  • Run ads on the regular (once I figure out how to get back into my ads account from Vietnam!)
  • Share more about our travels

2️⃣ Set up new evergreen funnels that can flow without me being “ON”

3️⃣ Squeeze every moment out of this season of travel with my littles, go on all the adventures, be present to the magic and the mess.

Holding off on doing your own 2025 Wrapped?

Here are some Qs to kick off your personal annual review & reflection:

✏️ WIN-DUMP! Spill the tea — what were my biggest wins? What big and small victories can I celebrate from the last year?

✏️ 12 months ago, what feelings dominated my emotional terrain? What vision did I have for the year ahead and did I make it a reality?

✏️ If not, why not? What fears, frustrations, or circumstances stopped me?

✏️ Life is full. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. What do I need to let go of in order to conquer what I *know* held me back this past year?

✏️ What do I want more of in my life and business moving forward and how can I make it happen?
