Hey boo,
FULL DISCLOSURE: My baby decided to start waking up every 1-2 hours at night so if I’m writing like a drunk person, that’s why.
It’s been a week of highs and lows and everything in between.
One minute I’m getting ready for the AppSumo live training that I’m doing on April 8… the next I’m downing CBD oil and threatening to throw my phone in a wood chipper because #OVERWHELM.
Tell me you can relate? I know you can. We’re absolutely in this together.
At the peak of this week’s stress, my mom and sister called. I picked up and immediately started blubbering and tearing up and venting my sleep deprivation frustration.
And you know what they said?
“Aww, you should take a nap.”
I know they meant well but like, fam — if I could take a nap I totally would. (I legit have taken like 3 naps in my life, I can’t do it.)
I calmly explained that I didn’t actually want advice, I just wanted to be heard.
They got it.
Here’s the point of my tiredness tirade…
Often we hold back from sharing our woes because everyone just wants to FIX them. It’s human nature. But so is the need to be HEARD. Without someone on the other end offering all the solutions you’ve already Googled.
My challenge to you in these trying times is to:
1. Share what you’re going through with someone, anyone (heck, hit reply and tell me! I always read your replies even if it takes me 2 weeks to respond back!)
2. Inform the person you’re sharing with whether you just want to vent or if you actually want advice.
It’s liberating, I swear.
Speaking of stress — we all deal with it differently.
I received a little wakey wake-up call this week after listening to Enneagram expert Ian Morgan Cron talk about how Type 3s deal with stress.
We push harder, try to be MORE productive, and we’re better at handling the intensity than other types (or at least shoving it down to deal with later).
If you’re into the Enneagram, check out the series on Ian’s YouTube channel.
Fiction. So much fiction. Not only is it relaxing but I feel like it makes me a better writer.
I just finished The Dutch House by Ann Pratchet which was a beautiful, easy read. If you’re into audiobooks, apparently Tom Hanks is the narrator?! (Is that the side-gig famous people take on when they’re self-quarantined?😅)
Alex Becker videos, particularly ‘How Corona Affected My Business… and Will Yours’ I just discovered this guy and I dig his style. He’s a straight shooter and shares some really solid advice in this video.
Modern classical, it’s so soothing. And the exact opposite, this TikTok songs of 2020 playlist.
On the topic of TikTok, I’m pretty sure there’s no better self-care practice than watching TT videos in the bath. Try it.
Love you,
Chanti xx
